Understanding how Google indexes content is your first step towards building a successful website.
Many bloggers tear their hair in frustration unable to figure out how to get Google to index their respective sites.
But the process behind it is simple and as such affords you multiple opportunities to build a warm receptive site.
Indexing is the process through which the search spider gathers and processes data from pages and sites.
If a site is frequently index, updated content features on search engine results. It’s better for search engine visibility.
New documents and changes in existing documents are added to searchable index. Pages are added or deindexed based on content quality and if they don’t contain shady content, doorway pages or hidden links. Sites that keyword stuff their pages and meta tags can get their content entirely removed from search engines in a process called deindexation.

A new site might find itself taking some more but indexation happens albeit slowly. A new site built on a fresh domain that was registered recently took two weeks for it to find itself on Google’s index. Other than periodically checking site:domain.com I did nothing to hasten the indexing process.
Another domain that was purchased around 3 months ago and I built a site around it recently. It took 3 to 4 days for the site to get indexed. Since the domain was registered months I feel that it got indexed faster because it somehow made itself to the list.
So even if you do nothing the site would get indexed eventually. That doesn’t however imply that you do nothing when there’s a lot you could do.
Build a site on Blogspot
Blogspot is Google’s free blogging platform.
With the parent company being Google, blogs created on Blogspot have a higher chance of getting indexed quickly.
Call it a misaligned favor.
Submit XML sitemaps
I generally recommend submitting sitemaps after your site has gone a major restructuring and want to help bots find their way and index the site properly.
XML sitemaps can also be submitted for new sites to help bots understand the site structure and follow and index urls correctly.
Fetch as Google
In Google’s search console there’s an option that allows you to submit site url and ask Google to fetch it.
It doesn’t ensure an immediate updating of your site and resources but it’s a quick way to let Google know.
Once fetched you’ll see a new option that says Request indexing. Click on that to let Google index the site.
Go to webmaster tools and submit URL to Google
Go to this url https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url
And then add your url and click submit.
Create Accounts on Google properties
Webmasters normally use Google webmaster tools and Google Analytics to track their website’s behavior, search engine queries and traffic reports with ease.
Being Google properties, adding these sites there also ensures speedier index and better handle on site data.
On WordPress you have a plugin called Monster Insights that lets you set up analytics tracking without much hassle.
Think of crawl budget
Crawl budget is the number of resources Google has to expend on indexing and visiting a site.
Increase crawl rate
The following advice is for existing blogs to increase the frequency with which Google bots crawl your sites.
If you post articles every now and then and update your content frequently you can get bots to visit more often.
This way you will teach the bots to check in more often with your site and update content on their index.
Plus hosting on a network that makes page loads faster is something you ought to consider.
Fast site loads mean Google can index it quicker.
